"And he will be the source of peace." Micah 5:5a
What if Jesus was a peacenik? What if the Son of God desired resolution over revolution? What if the Messiah came to bring peace rather than power?
Micah's prophesy about Jesus lands on this basic truth of the Savior of the World: He is the source of peace. Think about that today as you go about your work, engage with your neighbors, teach your children, and read the news. Strife and civil war? Jesus came to be the source of peace. Division and hostility? Jesus came to be the source of peace. Injustice and blind racism? Jesus came to be the source of peace.
Your kid's attitude gets worse. Jesus came to be the source of peace. Your husband doesn't listen. Jesus came to be the source of peace. Your neighbors do nothing but gossip. Jesus came to be the source of peace. You didn't get the promotion. Jesus is the source of peace. Can I say it again in a way that you might better understand my point and Micah's prophesy?
Jesus is the source of Peace.
My guess is that when you find the worst of humanity, Jesus isn't considered. When you find yourself frustrated, angry, sad, disoriented, the source isn't present. When you experience any situation in which there is no peace...you can bet that Jesus isn't in that moment.
How will you allow Jesus to live in your life and be the source of peace you need today, whatever the struggles you might face?
